Transitioning into the IoT Era with Digital Work Instructions
Korat Matsushita Co.,Ltd.
Korat Matsushita Co.,LTD. (KMC), a manufacturer of electronic components and parts for household appliances and automotive components, has been in the business more than 20 years, with more than 100 modern and high technology machines.
KMC has decided to adopt digital Work Instructions (WI), opting for the Teachme Biz platform as its tool of choice.
Today, we have the opportunity to interview the representative users to delve into their experiences and outcomes resulting from the use of Teachme Biz.
Switching from Paper-Based WI to Digital WI
-Why did you choose Teachme Biz?
Mr. Maruyama: It all started with the realization that our employees were facing challenges with the traditional paper-based WIs, making it difficult to use them effectively in real work situations. We needed WIs that could be accessed online. We explored various tools for managing the WIs and eventually discovered Teachme Biz. We then recommended it to the IT team for trial usage.

Mr. Apichart Suwanlamai – IT and GA Manager
-What problems did you encounter before using Teachme Biz?
Mr. Maruyama: We need to address the issue of managing WIs version. In cases when the WI was updated to a new version, but employees continue using paper documents from the old version, it can lead to errors and discrepancies in the produced output. Therefore, we have been actively seeking a solution to solve this issue.
-What was the first impressions of Teachme Biz?
Mr. Apichart: When we were considering Teachme Biz, our focus was on IoT (Internet of Things) and Real-Time Updates. Therefore, if any updates are made, our employees should be able to immediately access and view the new documents.
Upon exploring Teachme Biz, an online WI management platform, we found that it aligns well with our needs. With this platform, when a manual is edited, users can simply scan the manual’s QR code and instantly access the updated documents
-Were there any concerns about using an online WI?
Mr. Apichart: Initially, there were some concerns, especially considering that our WIs contain customer data and detailed work processes. However, after discussions with the Teachme Biz team, we received positive answers. Whether it was about setting up usernames and passwords for system login or defining access authorities, where we could specify the accessibilities, the system provided robust security measures. Users without proper authorization couldn’t access the documents, giving us confidence in opting for Teachme Biz.

Accelerating Creation, Approval, and Release Process
-How does Teachme Biz help with your work processes?
Mr. Pawit: For the WIs creators, Teachme Biz has significantly expedited our workflow and streamlined the process of publishing new manuals. We no longer have to wait for supervisors to review and sign paper documents. Previously, there might have been delays while waiting for supervisors to sign off or conduct additional checks, followed by the need to explain the updates to the staff.
However, with Teachme Biz, once we finish creating a manual, we simply generate a QR code for it and send it to our LINE group for supervisors to review. Once supervisors acknowledge and approve the manual, they can immediately release it for use.
This seamless integration of Teachme Biz has revolutionized our documentation management, saving us valuable time and ensuring swift approval and deployment of manuals.
Reducing Time Spent on Supporting Internally
- IT department utilization
Ms. Savitee: Our IT department utilizes Teachme Biz to assist in technical support when employees encounter various technical issues. Our team captures screenshots of the troubleshooting process for each case and uploads them to Teachme Biz. This allows other IT staff members to track previous occurrences of the issue and see how it was resolved. Additionally, we have created manuals on general information that employees should be aware of, such as how to update the Windows version. If employees can resolve issues on their own, it helps reduce the time spent providing support to the IT department.

Reducing Future Complaints
-Result after implementation
Mr. Maruyama: The results can be divided into 2 points. Firstly, on the creator’s side, they can create manuals more quickly and specify details of products more clearly.
As for the user’s side, they can immediately access manuals immediately after WIs have been published, and they can also easily understand the manuals as intended by the creators. Therefore, it enables us to produce products according to the specified specifications, reducing errors that may arise from unclear instructions.
Mr. Pawit: We use manuals for training the new employees, including recording the history of products that have had problems or have been reported by customers. This allows employees to know what issues each item has had, so they can prevent recurring problems and reduce complaints in the future.
Driving the Adoption of the Digital Era
-How to encourage employees to transition from using paper manuals to digital ones
Mr. Apichart: For changes in the way we work, sometimes we encounter employees who are reluctant to accept them. We understand that people tend to resist change when they have been using the same methods for a long time. However, it’s important to recognize that adopting new technologies always brings benefits.
We explain to employees the advantages of these changes, such as how they can help them work faster and more conveniently. After explaining and allowing them to try using the new tools, we receive good cooperation in transitioning to using new technologies.
-How do you drive the usage?
Mr. Apichart: Our team conducts training sessions for users and provides them with devices to try out. Moreover, Teachme Biz team provides us with excellent support services, helping us find solutions and ensuring smooth usage operations and constantly listens to our feedback or requests. For example, our employees expressed the desire to use Teachme Biz alongside the existing documents they use from the ERP system. This way, users could access all the information they needed from a single document.
After consulting with Teachme Biz team, we found a solution by simply creating QR codes for the manuals and attaching them to the existing documents to enable users to scan and access all the WI they needed from a single document.
Future usage plans
Mr. Apichart: Currently, we use Teachme Biz only for certain parts of the factory. However, I believe it’s a versatile tool that can be implemented across the entire facility. From our experience, we’ve seen positive results. We’ve even had supervisors from other departments inquire about it. Therefore, in the future, if there’s a plan to expand its usage to other departments, our IT team will be responsible for providing support and training for its use in various units.
